As usual, Memorial Day weekend saw heavy motorcycle traffic. Usually, it is in drizzly, cool weather, but this year, the weather was perfect.
I got the Road King ready for Saturday. We would ride in the afternoon and play golf in the evening.
As we headed out of town east, we came to the first curve and there were a half-dozen bikes pulled over. I knew right away that someone had missed the curve. We slowed and I asked if they needed assistance. They didn't, so we continued. 7 miles up the road was a rest area and there were another half-dozen riders sitting there. We pulled in and asked them if they were waiting for part of their group and they said they were. We told them what we saw and the female on the phone said that she was talking to them, the guy laid his bike down cause he was going a little too fast, got into the gravel and went down into the grass. It was a "soft" landing apparently. I asked again if he was OK and she said he was. So, we continued.
It is always wise to travel posted speed limits and perhaps even a little slower when you are on unfamiliar roads, particularly where you have intersecting roads. Curves can sneak up on you if you aren't careful. Intersections can get interesting if it's not a four way.
The rest of our ride was uneventful. It was beautiful weather.
Hope you all had the same.
