Can anyone tell me about the penny test to check thread on motorcycle tires?
I don't mess around where it comes to tires. If I need them, I buy them.
However, I just had a new rear tire put on at 15,000 miles, have put 7,000 miles on it and it is already looking worn. Maybe it's me, but maybe I got a bad tire when it was replaced. I have always been told that it's 2 to 1 on your tires. For every 2 rear tires you put on, you replace the front tire, but my front tire is in excellent shape, is not cupped and has 22,000 miles on it.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.

If you can see the top of the head on the penny when you stick in the tread....you have less than 2-30 seconds and you NEED to replace it!!!!
Thanks, Candy.
The reason that I posted that is because I have a rear tire that has 7000 miles on it and the thread appears worn. My passenger weighs 110 lbs. Saddle bags are near empty, so I wonder if I got a crappy tire from the manufacturer.
Anyway, I will check with a penny when I get home, now that I have my answer.
Good riding.
