Does anyone know of a particular brand seat or means of making a ride more comfortable? I have a HD Ultraclassic Electraglide and I purchased a gel pad for the seat, but I need something else to help with comfort. I have a lot of problems with my spine, 2 lower spine surgeries and 4 cervical spine surgeries and I suffer daily with extreme pain. Haven't been riding much the last few years but would like to get out more. Thanks in advance for any input and stay safe and keep the shiny side up.
Thanks for the reply, as I stated, I have problems with my spine and it's difficult to ride in a vehicle for any distance without a lot of discomfort and pain. On the bike I can stretch out more if I'm on the highway, but I worry about getting pain in my leg or numbness and then dumping the bike when I try and stop. I haven't had much riding time in the last few years. The bike is almost like new, I had to have the oil pump replaced so I had them tear it down and make sure there was no damage done, while it was torn down I had them redo it. There is only a few hundred miles on it since it was repaired. It's a beautiful bike and I miss riding, you can try and forget about all your problems while on the bike.
Dan:
Is it the seat or do you need more lower back support?
Remember that any seat that is cut lower to give more lower back support will reduce the amount of padding in the seat.
If you go with more padding, then you will be taller, causing more low back problems.
Do you wear a back support when you ride?
I am putting a new seat on the Road King this year-a Sundowner. But it's not for me; it for my "passenger"!
Hope you find something soon. Riding season is just around the corner.
TCSS.

Go check out Corbin and Mustang seats. I plan on putting a Corbin on mine soon. You can get them with both rider and passenger backrests. Also check out J&P Cycles.com they have a good selection of seats.
Dan:
Also, how far do you ride before you stop and take a break? Do a little stretching before you get back on.
When muscles stay in the same position for too long, of course, they contract.
I have found myself twisting my torso going down the road. Keeps me loose.
I hate to admit it, but there are no after market parts on my bike. It's all genuine HD. Sucks to pay their price, but I made that commitment to myself when I bought it and have stuck to it. I almost made them take off the screamin' eagle tail fins that they put on because it didn't feel right. Yeah; I'm anal when it comes to the damned thing. Harley this; Harley that. Harley wash, polish, chrome cleaner, debugger. Everything chrome that I have added are; you guessed it. And when it comes down to it, it isn't really worth much more. But if I ever sell it, if the guy or gal that buys it is a serious owner, they will notice.
Ride safe.
