Spent a very pleasent day last sunday at The Emergency Services Open Day here in Auckland. It involved Police, Fire and ambulance as well as special services such as USAR and Rescue Helicopters. I put on a model and fire service memorabilia display with some help from my good friend Kevin. A few pics are attached here and I will post some pics of the real stuff on my photos page if you are interesyted.

Resources: Make contact with Industrial Light & Magic, Disney Imagineering, or special FX companies to get some good input.

Ideas: small chunk of dry ice and a couple of led lights (red, orange, yellow) that blink to create smoke with flickers of flames or,
small fan with strips of red acetate film blowing the strips to simulate the flames or, copy this patented information but on a small scale:

Simulated flame effect means, such as suspended ribbons moved by a forced stream of air from a fan, receive light from a source which is then reflected onto a diffusing screen. The screen, which is both transparent and partly reflective, is situated in front of means for simulating combusting fuel. The light reflected by the flame effect means, which gives the appearance of flames, thereby appears to emanate between the simulated fuel and its image reflected in the screen.

Stay safe,
Mike

Has anyone come up with a believable vision of fire. I can do smoke and I have seen a Tiger tank with playdoh fire but no one seems o have this answer. Anyone??
