Every year I find myself asking myself why the NFL continues to play the meaningless Pro Bowl game. It intent is to showcase the best of the best in the NFL; however, a large number of the elite players elect not to play. Obviously, there are good reasons. The NFL season is long and gruelling on the players. They need time to recover or have offseason medical attention.

As a spectator, I don't enjoy watching it. There nothing really riding on the results of the game. The players are playing not to get hurt, for good reason. The level of intensity is not there.

This year, the NFL is trying to spark interest by putting the Pro Bowl before the Super Bowl. BAD IDEA! It's just as much a waste of time as putting it after the Super Bowl. The NFL should just give it up. Perhaps have an awards-type ceremony instead.
