I respect any woman in the fire service, proving that they can make it in a male dominent job be it paid or vol. and can work their way up the ladder without sorta speak " having to do special things or duties to get there".

To Whom It May Concern,
My name is Katherine Williams and I am a fourth year Executive Fire Officer student. I am currently looking for female firefighters who have become pregnant or may be interested in becoming pregnant while employed as a firefighter. I am attempting to investigate whether female firefighters have a higher level of pregnancy complications than the general population, as well as investigate what factors a firefighter considers when making the decision about the timing to come off line/ out of operations.
The questionnaire is confidential, no identifying information is requested, and should take no more than 10-15 minutes of your time (primarily multiple choice). If you have any questions, comments, or relevant narrative, please email me at williamsk913@yahoo.com and I would be happy to respond. I would also appreciate talking to/ emailing other firefighters who have become pregnant and discuss their experiences in more detail.
I understand that this information may be hard for some women to discuss, but making the decision to go on light duty or FMLA/ leave of absence can be a difficult one. I would like to help future firefighters make educated decisions.
The Survey can be found at:

Thanks for your willingness to help,
Katherine D. Williams
