Staying after people about responding in pov.
Our department is a constantly evolving in its tatics for fire fighter safety. I do belive that we might be one of the first if not one of the few stations in our county to have and use evac tones. We are not yet RIT but we do use some of the RIT training ideas like evrey firefighter is issued webbing for firefighter rescue or civilan rescue. I will say it is great to be part of such a SAFTY minded fluid station.
BE SAFE
It boils down to training. You perform the way you train. Get your people in the habit of using safety skills on every training, don't let officers and senior guys skip, and encourage questions.
The Administration of the City of Passaic in Nothern New Jersey goes to great lenghts to support their firefightes safety. Yeah right, they BANNED the use of the firehouse gyms to all firefighters while on duty.
Sarcastic AND truthful!
Ideas to prevent LODD, research, Training and implementation of the knowledge you have should be at the department level and it should be on going process be ahead of the game not behind. At the personal level every Firefighter should strive to take safety into mind. Responding to the station, to the incident, become efficent, become effective and be safe. And implement dietary and physical activites to promote better health Bottom line it starts at a personal level then a department level Be safe and god bless
