Hello, I am a member of a mostly male fire dept. so it took me about a year to prove myself to the guys. But now I'm just one of the guys.

Hey girlies! I've been EMS for about a year now... I just joined a volly fire dept. that is 99% male (I think there's only one other female in my co. and a total of 4/5 of us between all 4 companies in the town) and while most of the guys from my dept. have accepted me and are cool with me... some of the guys from the other departments have been jerks... I mean my guys make jokes and tease but who doesn't get that? But yeah... the other places I EMT or have been an EMT I had to prove myself but once I showed them I knew what I was doing, I was just one of the group.
