Firefighter Dies After Suffering Cardiac Problems During Training

MOORE COUNTY - The Whispering Pines Fire Department (Moore County
Station 51) has announced that Probationary Firefighter Glenn
Miller, age 34, has died.

Firefighter Miller was attending training on Tuesday, August 14 at
the Fayetteville Technical Community College Fire Academy and
collapsed. He reportedly suffered a severe cardiac emergency.

"He was a very dedicated member of this department," said Whispering
Pines Fire Chief Reed Gaddy. "He was looking at making the fire
service a career. He was part of our family. We are all proud of
him."

The Chief said Miller was about to complete his Level 1 and Level 2
firefighter training when he died.

The arrangements are as follows:

Visitation: 1000 hours, Saturday, August 25 at Pinehurst United
Methodist Church, 4111 Airport Road, Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Memorial Service: 1100 hours, Saturday, August 26 at Pinehurst
United Methodist Church, 4111 Airport Road, Pinehurst, North
Carolina.

Memorials/Donations: Masonic Children's Home of North Carolina. 600
College Street, Oxford, NC 27565 or the NCFFF.
