Our department is looking to get a new brush rig for around $125-130k.
We are at high altitude, in mountains, and have rough roads. If you can call them roads in some places.
On the other hand, we have a very low call volume and don't put many miles on a rig per year.
Bay door is only 8'6" tall, so that limits us to a pretty standard sort of rig, and not any of the mega super-lifted monster brush rigs.
Looking for a diesel engine 5500/550 4x4 crew cab, 400 gallons water, class A foam, hose reel, front sweeps, some storage. Want adjustable power pedals and seats for short/tall drivers.
My first impulse was to spec a 550/powerstroke, but one of our Ram fans says Cummins is a lot easier to work on and lasts longer.
What do you see as the pros and cons of different chassis choices?
