All the signs of flashover or back draft. Major structural damage and the general evacuation alarm ( some outside may see what you do not). Also too much fire involment. Property is not worth injury or death
i think if you hear some sort of noise like walls cracking you need to get out . i also think if you in a structure and there is fire everywhere around and there is no way you can get it out i think it is time to get out fast. i also think if your low air alarm goes off its time to get out that is my biggest thing you cant fight fire if you dont have any air.
Robbie , you should never hear your low level alarm inside the fire !! You should always allow yourself a barrier that gives you time to get out , what if god forbid you got lost or disoriented or if you were trapped inside the structure . You need the reserve air in your tank to give your brothers time to find you and get you out . I admit I never thought much about it before I took an air management class but now I will always make this practice a rule . Lets all come home brother !!!!!!
changes in the smoke and heat conditions.use your natural instincts your body can tell you alot.hope if you miss something on the inside someone is watching your back from the outside to give you a warning. Be Safe And All Come home.
Sometimes you can feel when things are wrong. Like if my partner drops the hose line and bolts for the door, I'd get the feeling that I might need to leave as well. Seriously, though, if you can master "tunnel vision" you can pay attention to all of the signs that you are someplace you ought not to be anymore. Ignorance may be bliss, but not inside a burning building.
Your gut. The smallest ounce of gut. When you see something that just makes you think, ugh should I stay or go? GO! If you are wrong, get back in and fight. If you are right, then you saved time, by acting quick. Just consider the situation, and make sure you are following your training. 2IN, 2OUT, keeping a charged line, have hand tools for minor obstructions. All of these things will keep you alive to continue to do what the community needs you to do.
