I'll give the cleaner version of the story. Reported MVA, car into the wood. Find young female driver ok, car banged up a bit but I wonder how she explained it to the insurance company when a piece of her clothing was on the drivers side floor boards. I think you get the picture.
At least she was unhurt though a bit embarrassed. Stay safe everybody.
My first trauma in itself, I don't really remember... My first major trauma responding as a fully cleared EMT was in Hartford (I was working for Aetna) and we had an MCI on Zion Ave... 8 kids and 1 20 something- year-old driver were all tossed as the van they were driving in rolled on wet roads.
I'll never forget it. I don't think my heart beat that fast EVER... my patient was one of the only 2 critically injured... after rapidly boarding and collaring we assessed his R femur and found profound ecchymosis, crepitus... clearly a fractured femur... but the ecchymosis was visibly growing underneath the skin... and rapidly... come to find out he had lacerated his femural artery... We had one other patient... non-critical... this was my first time driving to Hartford Hospital on a priority wihtout having someone telling me where to turn...
I definately won't forget it... my first major trauma was also my first MCI.
