Just letting everyone know that our chief, Phil Panezott (43 yrs. old), had what they are calling a small stroke on Jan 27.  He was taken to Salem Hosp. by one of his friends who was with him at the onset.  After Salem Hosp. ran a few tests they chose to send him by STAT to UPMC in Pittsburgh.  He is doing well and the doctors are very surprised by his quick recovery.  He is up and walking around but the doctors will not release him until they can stablize his heart.  They are saying that he has "weak" spots around his heart and that he might need a pacemaker put in at a later date.  I am sorry for this late notice but I have been very busy trying to fill in the gaps that we have right now at our dept.  With any luck Phil will be coming home early this week.  His home address is 177 west 14th street Salem Ohio 44460 for anyone wanting to send cards.  I will keep everyone updated with the latest news.

Keep us posted brother. Hope all is going to be well.
Thought I heard something about this last week in passing conversation. Glad to hear the Chief is doing better. Get well soon.
I talked to Phil tonight and he is hoping that he gets to come home tomorrow. The doctors are happy that the meds, in pill form, are working well. His heart is still not working at full strength but all in all he is feeling good and wants to come home.
Phil was released from the hosp. today. He is home now but he is far from having a clean bill of health. Thanks for the well wishes.
Any updates on Phils health?
Phil is feeling better but the docs say that his heart is only pumping out 15-20% of what it should. He was released to go back to his day job but with alot of restrictions. They are still hoping that the meds can increase the output. The idea of placing an internal aed is still an option but they are trying to advoid that if they can. So if you see him out on a call and he is doing too much please YELL at him to stop and let someone else do the grunt work! Hopefully the other officers and I can make sure that he has little to worry about while on scene.
Get him a lawn chair and tell him the only thing he is allowed to do on scene is sit in it!!
How about an update every so often???
He went back to the doc this week and they still can not believe how fast he is recovering. His heart is getting stronger, it is now pumping around 30%. This is not great but it is better than the previous 15-20%. I will give updates anytime I hear something new. Thanks again guys.
Thats great good to see he is getting better
