I come from Jackson, NJ and all 4 stations in town are combo depts. we are covered by Career FFs during the day and Volunteers at night. I was a Volunteer for almost two years until this past Monday, April 14th when I started as a Career FF at my station. We have a lot of animosity between the paid and vollies at my station and are constantly at each others throats. Do any other combo depts. have these problems and how do you guys/ gals resolve them??

I am a part-time in a combination department in Atlantic County. There is a lot of animosity between the volunteers and the F/T and P/T staff. We have 1 paid guy on 24/7 who is backed up by the vollies. We don't train together at all. The paid guy cleans the firehouse, washes and inspects the rigs daily, and fuels them if needed.
