Thought I would pass this along. There is a TeamSpeak server run by IBN that carries live audio from various fire departments across Canada, the US and Australia. Currently the Canadian departments include:
AB- Calgary
AB- Edmonton
AB- MD Foothills
BC - Vancouver
ON - Ottawa Valley
ON - Toronto
ON - Greater Toronto Area
Could make for interesting listening while off duty.
No, you don't need to have an account to listen to the feeds. All you would need to do would be to register your username on the TeamSpeak server. Here is the directions:
Some of the feeds are down...the admin of the whole site somehow managed to delete the whole site...but the teamspeak client is still working, and he's trying to get all the live feeds back up and running, the canadian one's that are up and running are Edmonton AB, Calgary AB, Ottawa Valley ON, and seems like the only other on that is offline is Toronto ON, the others that are listed seem to be missing completely, but as i said he's trying to get the site back up and running like it was you just have to give this guy some time....
ok first off i wanna say that you guys are doing a great job with getting this all back up and running again, and second i'm trying to re-register on the IBN website, but whenever i click on the link in my email to confirm my account and all that good stuff, and when the link page pops up i says that the page i'm trying to access is not avaliable...is that still getting worked out or what's happening there? it's no big rush, i can still listen to the teamspeak client i was just wondering about the website itself....
I wanted to give everyone an update with what has been happening with the Edmonton, Alberta FD feed.
Per listener request (and several members of the fire department itself), I have added a few talkgroups as well as ways to listen. Talkgroups that are being scanned include Fire Dispatch, Fire Info, Working Channels 1-13, fire patch and Mutual aid. During times of low activity medical talkgroups will also be scanned. However if FD activity increases the medical talkgroups will be locked out until FD traffic slows down again.
Here are the various ways to listen to the feed:
IBN TeamSpeak - Most reliable, free and online 24/7. You must have TeamSpeak installed on your computer in order to be able to listen.
Windows Media - Has the usual issues and downtime of WME9 and Streamwebtown but I try to keep it online as much as possible.
Real Player - Hosted on Firefeeds.com. Disadvantage being one needs to either be a broadcaster on firefeeds or pay for a subscription to their service. If you are broadcaster or a member of their service it is also very stable and up 24/7.
I thought I would send a quick update to the group to let everyone know that there is a new option for listening to IBN's scanner feeds using your favorite media player.
For those new to IBN, Icecast is a new offering to our listeners. If you are wanting to listen to scanner feeds but are unable to install TeamSpeak, this is another way that you can tune into the action.
Here are the feeds that are currently on the server. This is a brand new service (less than a week online) so more feeds will be coming online soon. For a current list you can view the server at http://65.98.118.2:8000/
