Here is pic of my 1039 Studebaker. It was purchased new by the Lamotte Township Fire Department in Palestine Illinois from local dealer. Was shipped from South Bend to St. Louis where the body and pump was installed by Central Fire. The truck was in use until the early 1960's. When I purchased the truck in 1987 it had been in storage at an old Chevy dealership that had went out of buisness in West Union Illinois. Drove it home and pumped in the same week. Took some time filling up the 500 gallon tank with garden hose. I was lucky enough to talk to some subjects on the fire department that were on the department when the truck was in use. Gave me some neat stories about the truck. I got married and had kids so the truck went on the back burner. Kids are now grown and looking forword to getting back to work restoring this truck to her natural beauty. Also have a 1049 1-Ton Studebaker that I am getting back to driving and enjoying also. ...
