I've been a American Lafrance rider driver beginning in 1975. Mike
Yes,and recently they are filling the rest of the order for the Buffalo Fire Department, that they had to bail on during the down sizing..hopefully they can comeback and compete, soon. An I remember the 1st Pheonix Mid-Engine Pumper, like it was yesterday...Since i detailed it back in 2006 @ the old alf Hamburg NY shop. :)
looks like AMERICAN LAFRANCE is making a comback with more and more plants on line and large orders for trucks in Pheonix Az and other trucks on order I think thats good because it is a solid truck and with the body being built out of stainless steel the trucks should last a life time! Hopefully they can compete with the other manufactures to get more on the market. Some of the compation Is way over priced for all the bells and whistles.
I was able to purchase a 1975 American Lafrance that was in the movie backdraft and plan on restoring it for use in parades and shows I also had a1942 alf from Evansville in was open cab with pump panel in front of passenger side door I wish I could have keeped it.
