SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Police say the roof of a theater under renovation in upstate New York has partially collapsed, trapping a worker under debris.

A police officer tells the Syracuse Post-Standard that it isn't yet known how badly hurt the worker is at the downtown Landmark Theatre.

He says the man was wearing a safety harness when the roof fell and he's pinned under a piece of concrete.

The newspaper reports that firefighters in two cherry pickers were working to free the man shortly after 2 p.m. Monday. Witnesses said workers had been taking down a wall earlier in the day.

The work is part of a $16 million project to enlarge the stage at the venue for movies, concerts and other live performances.
