INDIANAPOLIS - A fire official says the blaze that killed a woman and young child inside an Indianapolis apartment is suspicious.

Firefighters contained the Sunday evening fire to a single unit of the Hunt Club Apartments near Interstate 465 and 56th Street on the city's northeast side.

Lawrence Fire Department Deputy Chief Dino Batalis says the woman and child were pronounced dead at the scene. Information on their identities wasn't immediately released.

Batalis says investigators found two possible points of origin for the fire and that the smoke detector in the main hallway was missing.
