Secure the area, and wait two or three hours
for the electric company to arrive LOL
True that Cap!! Just got off a MVA a car took out a pole and wires. Call came in @ 3 Just got home @ 7. We secured both sides of the down pole and wires waited for the power company untill day break so they could set the pole. The funny thing the St. Police arrived in mins. I thought we was soing in service NOT! LOL
I wish we had time to pack a lunch before responding LOL
If it's a state route we call the SO and tell them we're closing it down, that usually gets the OHP on scene REAL quick(if they're not already there), they don't like state routes shut down for long periods of time, creates traffic problems for them and lots of others so they help speed up the utility company's response time.On county or township roads we do the same thing, barricade the road on both sides of the hazard,at least 3 pole spans away, and notify SO that the road is closed until the utility company arrives, that way we're not tying up our apparatus and personnel.
Well, our main goal is to secure the scene, make sure there is no danger to the public and that nothing is on fire.
