Wildland Urban Interface Fires... This is where you get to do your job... This is "It"...
Perhaps the city is where it is (don't need to add the at, unless you are purposely attempting to use bad grammar to illustrate the stereotype of a "redneck"... but I could be way off base here?) Regardless, the city is where it is not...
Dude, until you have done some kick ass wildland urban interface firefighting, you just can't make a broad brushed approach that city firefighting is the cats meow. Lot's of folks like myself have to switch gears from urban, wlldland / urban interface, rural or wilderness firefighting. And guess what?
You make my point Capt. the double preposition was purposeful and the fire you show was not in the country, that was city all the way. regardless of the name lots of houses close together is the city.
Most of our department work 'blue collar' jobs One member has an 'upity' type job, but he fits in with the rest of us. I enjoy being around them more than the city, yuppie' types I work with. We can be ourselves and don't have to worry about hurting someone's sensitive feelings. Around here Rednecks are just decent, hard working people who volunteer because they care. The city kids(EMT's) I work with are so self absorbed that they only see their side of an issue. My Redneck brothers see you for who you are, not what they think you should be. Redneck is not a derogatory term, just means you are accepting of others, until proven otherwise. I trust them with my life more than any 'normal' person any day.

Thanks Bill for reconfirming all that I suspect about texas. Geez what a load of "blue collar" crap.
Yep. typical yankee stereotype of Texans. I can tell by your profile that you have an attitude problem. You nee to lighten up. For the most part, Texans are friendly people. WE go out of our way to help each other. I guess you think we all drive jacked up pickups with gun racks and beer coolers in the console. You are wrong. Your suspicions are BULLSHIT! Unless you can prove them, have a coke and a smile and shut the F--- up!
Our department is a prime example of the word "BROTHERHOOD." I was trying to show that we all get along no matter what our social standing is. You sir, obviously fit in the category with the kids I work with. You are blinded by your own views and refuse to see those of others who have been around longer than you have. You need to grow up, junior.
I can tell by your profile that you have an attitude problem.
By the profile? Gees, pretty special powers you have there Bill.
I see in Jack's profile someone who has been a member 10+ years, has undertaken various training (and doesn't feel the need the to expand on specifics, though if you read his responses, he's obviously well versed on the fire service, tacttics and experience), has a sense of humour and someone who feels if we do away with Functionally illiterate people, Conspiracy theorists, Flaming idiots that the fire service stands a chance of being the best they can be.
If Jack has an attitude problem, then what do you have Bill if you call people junior and tell them they need to grow up? Don't answer that- I can see from your profile and your response that you're someone who has been around many years and doesn't believe anyone with less time has anything to offer.... ;-)
