It's kind of interesting, there have been comments (elsewhere, in other discussions) from females about some of the "reluctance" they've encountered being a female firefighter. Yet not ONE word of disagreement on this topic. Are the women imagining a male reluctance or are those misogynists simply too cowardly to speak their honest opinion? Anyone?
WP -

One PT test for all. As long as they all pass the test who cares. Now I would imagine that the women taxpayers in town appreciate a young, strapping 90210 male firefighter to come save them as compared to some whacker with a beer gut???

So she passes the all gender test... great, if she is attractive even better.
FETC,

You bring up an interesting point. All things being equal (same CPAT regardless of gender), should candidates then be assessed on their"attractiveness", rated on a gradient and assigned a ranking to be factored into their overall score?
(I think I know WP's answer on this one.)
FETC,

Got it.

John,

We can't all be Marines.

Jack,

I am NOT "too cowardly" to give my honest opinion!
WP,
So you're an admitted misogynist? Naw....you're a grade A chauvinist, but not a misogynist. Unless you've been repressing.
When I saw misogynist, naturally I just assumed.......

"grade A chauvinist"? That's one of the nicest things anyone's ever said to me. You're swell!
Jack and WP;
So; this is a SERIOUS discussion about the physical demands and testing to that for ANYONE who chooses firefighting as an occupation?
And it had NOTHING to do with a battle of the sexes for the umpteenth time?
But now, we are talking about vanity issues both male and female and factoring that into a score?
You guys crack me up.
You had me going there for a while.
Mysogynist vs. Chauvinist?
Combine the two; then split the difference.
Art,

You lost me. "vanity issues"?, "factoring that into a score"? What am I missing over here?
WP,
from previous page, in response to FETC's comments about "if she's hot"

Well it works for Hooters, right? Seriously that would probably get us in court. But I for one would enjoy parading around with a qualified pin-up firegirl instead of my current "brandon" 90210 side burn pretty boy... But thats just my opinion.
FETC,

Have you considered that a "...qualified pin-up firegirl..." might instead prefer to parade around with "brandon" the "...pretty boy..."? And who knows who pretty boy brandon would want to parade around with.

BTW you really didn't answer my hypothetical attractiveness question.
I'm with Philly, I might need to go lie down and rest for a while. Maybe watch a re-run of "Emergency" and not worry about any of this...
