WASHINGTON, D.C. - Dozens of DC firefighters are accusing the department of racial discrimination.
They're filing a class action lawsuit in District Court Friday.
Fire department officials are not talking about this class action lawsuit or the allegations of racial discrimination, saying that until the lawsuit is filed it will not comment.
FOX 5 has been told it accuses the department of racial discrimination in its discipline policy and promotion practices.
DC firefighters and EMS workers met with lawyers Thursday.
The lawsuit involves 50-60 current and former Fire and EMS employees with the department.
We're told it will be filed in US District Court in DC Friday afternoon.
Lawyers representing the workers say they have discovered a pattern of discrimination and that African American firefighters are being disciplined more than others.
