Vermont 5-Alarm Fire Ravages 59 Residential Units and Businesses

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. — Police in Vermont say there were no apparent injuries in a fire in a Brattleboro building that had 59 residential units.

The fire was reported at about 8: 45 p.m. Sunday.

Police say emergency responders from Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts descended on Brattleboro to help fight the fire.

The Brattleboro Reformer says the five-story building at the corner of High Street had 59 residential units and several businesses.

Hinsdale, N.H., Assistant Fire Chief Jay Matuszewski says the building was not structurally sound.

By 11:30 p.m. the flames were no longer visible.
