Ventilation Training Ideas!!!
Aloha Brothers and Sisters...I'm looking for any good online training materials for a roof ventilation class. Also, I think I read an old article in firehouse or fire engineering about using stacked pallets, and nailing some plywood to it as an acutal mock up roof. Have any of you set something up like that? Any ideas? Anything would be really appreciative...especially all you "Truckees" who have done ventilation day in and day out!! I really wanna make a class and train my crew. I posted a few times before, and was overwhelmed with all the input and advice that has made me a much bette firefighter... I can't help but be so proud and thankful for this tight knit community we have here on FFN, I really do value all your folks expertise and expiriences!!!Thank you all!! Train Hard!!! Stay Safe!!

we buit a roof prop in the back of our station that works out pretty well for us. One of the other firefighters is a carpenter and he built it out of plywood and shingles. It is about a 12 pitch and works well. We took an old roofladder and cut it down and work off that. There is no height involved but it works better than nothing.

Don't allow any bldg schedules for demolition to go 'un-vented.' Permits are usually required for such work and you chief/training officer should work closely with the proper jurisdiction responsible for issuing those permits.
