(AP) ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md.

Aberdeen Proving Ground officials say one employee was killed and two others injured in an explosion at the Army base.

Emergency personnel responded to the Edgewood Area of the base in Harford County shortly after 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

A statement released by base officials says there was an apparent malfunction involving a test vehicle that started a fire. The unidentified injured employees have been taken to the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

The statement said the fire has been contained there is no danger to the public.
