LEESBURG, Va. - Fire crews in Loudoun County battled a three-alarm blaze at a Leesburg car wash on Thursday night, and two firefighters suffered minor injuries while trying to put out the flames.

The fire sparked at the Leesburg Station Auto Wash on Catoctin Circle SE in Leesburg. Heavy smoke and flames were seen pouring from the business.

Loudoun County Fire spokesperson Mary McGuire says the call came in reporting the flames just after 7:30 p.m., and it quickly went to three alarms.

It took more than an hour to get the flames under control, and as of 9:20 p.m. the two-alarm fire was still not out.

Two firefighters who were battling the flames had to be taken to Loudoun County Hospital to be treated for heat exhaustion or smoke inhalation, authorities said. Their injuries are said to be minor.

Eyewitnesses who spoke with FOX 5 say they heard several explosions while they were across the street from the business.

There's no word yet on the cause of the blaze.

Several roads in the area were shut down because of the fire, and so were some nearby businesses. No homes in the area were affected or evacuated.

McGuire says there is extensive damage to the building, and it is more than likely a total loss.
