SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah - Firefighters and hazardous materials officials are monitoring a fire that burned for more than 10 hours overnight at an explosives plant in Saratoga Springs is under control.
The fire was reported about 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Dyno Nobel plant, where officials say several potentially hazardous chemicals were kept. One is ammonium nitrate, a chemical that could emit toxic gases.
Firefighters found the fire wasn't threatening a building where most explosives are stored, and decided it would be safer to let it burn.
Hazmat teams from Provo and Orem are monitoring air around the building, and officials say there's no threat to nearby neighborhoods.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
