U.S. Fire Administration
The U.S. Fire Administration has announced the official line of duty death of Lieutenant Roy Everett Westover Jr., 41, of the Westover Area Volunteer Fire Company on October 24, 2009.
Lieutenant Westover began to feel ill while on a hose line at the scene of a structure fire. An advance life support team that was on the scene of the fire rendered immediate care to Westover before transporting him to Miners Medical Center, PA, where he succumbed to his injury. The nature of the fatal injury appears to have been a heart attack. The causes of both the fire and firefighter fatality, however, remain under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal's Office and Cambria County Coroner's Office respectively.
