U.S. Fire Administration
The U.S. Fire Administration has announced the official line of duty death of Firefighter John Glaser, 33, of the Shawnee Fire Department on May 22, 2010.
While performing search and rescue operations at a residential structure fire, Firefighter Glaser became separated from his crew and reported that he was in trouble. A crewmember requested a Mayday and immediately began searching for Firefighter Glaser. Additional firefighters then entered to locate Glaser, and on locating him, Glaser was removed from the structure and provided medical care by paramedics on the scene. Firefighter Glaser was transported to the Shawnee Mission Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Eastern Kansas Task Force.
Funeral Arrangements:
Visitation will be Wednesday (05/26/2010) from 1600-2000hrs at the Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Row Ave, Leawood, KS. Thursday morning (05/27/2010), a fire apparatus procession will begin at the Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, and will pass by the Shawnee Fire Department Station #71 then proceed to the Church of the Resurrection for a 1030hrs memorial service.
