Montgomery County Fire and Rescue tells FOX 5 two people have died from a tree falling on their van. It happened near Connecticut Ave and East-West Highway in Chevy Chase, Maryland.

Montgomery County investigators say the impact killed the female driver and one child. Emergency crews worked desperately to rescue the other half dozen children inside. The children's ages range from nine months to nine years old. Rescue workers transported all passengers to area hospitals.

Eduardo Coronado was in his truck on Connecticut Avenue when he heard a loud crack, and then looked up to see a huge tree on top of the van in front of him. He got out to help then realized the Toyota Sienna van was full of children.
