(AP) RALEIGH, Miss.

Two children died and their grandmother was hurt in a Smith County house fire.

Coroner Billy Williams said a 9-year-old boy and his 7-year-old sister died in the fire.

Williams didn't release the names of the children because of their ages.

The two were visiting their grandmother when fire broke out about 6:30 a.m. Thursday at a home on County Road 540-2, just outside Raleigh.

Williams said the children were found in a back room and appeared to have died of smoke inhalation. He said the grandmother was able to make it out the house but was severely burned.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the state Fire Marshal's Office.
