Two children died and two other people were injured in a fire at an apartment complex in Webster early this morning.
“Anything can happen at anytime” Satish Patel said. “It’s tragic, very tragic, especially the two small children.”
The fire broke out at the Skylar Pointe Apartments at 1210 El Camino Village near NASA Road 1 about 4:30 a.m., said Crystal Roan, spokeswoman for the City of Webster. It was extinguished about 6 a.m.
Roan said the two children were pronounced dead at the scene. An adult and another child were rushed to a nearby hospital. Their conditions and injuries were not released, but the adult is expected to survive.
All of the victims, whose names have not been released, were found in the same unit, but their relationship to one another is not known, Roan said.
Investigators are trying to determine what sparked the blaze, which destroyed five units.
Neighbors awakened by the sound of fire engines and a helicopter were shocked.
Satish Patel and his wife, Bharti, said the neighborhood is very nice and they’ve never heard of anything like this happening before.
