BLAIRSVILLE, Pa. - Authorities in western Pennsylvania say an early morning fire destroyed a house, killing two children.
Police in Indiana County say emergency crews were called to the home in Blairsville at 7:14 a.m. Sunday.
Officer Robert Shaw says two adults and a young child were able to escape the flames but two children were still inside. Shaw said he and another officer tried to get in through the front and back doors but were driven back by the flames.
Authorities say the two victims were unrelated to the residents but frequently stayed overnight at the home. Police say they also evacuated a woman from a neighboring house that caught fire.
The names of the victims have not been released pending notification of family members. State police are investigating the cause of the blaze.
