Have any of you water haulers ever heard of , or used turbo draft. Have only used it in tarinning, but if you have lakes , ponds, or creeks just hook it up 2.5 or 3 in. into it & 5 in. out you can get 750 to 900 gpm out of this thing. It dose tie up a pumper.

They work but depending on the topography your limited on the distance from the water source. The longest we could get a good flow rate was 400ft, and it was pretty flat. It does tie up an engine, but can supply a decent water supply for a fire. The other issue is the size and weight of the appliance itself and deployment for use.
We carry one on Engine 22 but have never used it yet. There was a grant in are county and all the FDs here have one now. They seem to be a good concept we will just have to wait to see.
never seen or heard of them till just now but they look like a good product. Would like to see them in action some time, if they are as good as they look they could be a good idea for us to use when we are away from hydrants which is most of the time.
We have them. There is also other manufacturers who have a connection on their strainers to allow an engine to pump a draft. Once flowing the engine's pump will take over.

Tying up an engine? Hmmm why would you need it if you can place a large pumper in a water hole and draft? Greater GPM's. We have one and it is a second choice for when the primer fails or the first choice for when your 2 or 3 lengths of suction will not reach the draft site. Way off the roadway, but as others mentioned, distance, elevation, pump size does affect GPM's

The only issue I see with this tool, is you need tank water to make the draft. Sending the truck (pumper/tanker) to the water hole empty after the first dump deems the device useless.
Very interesting, never seen one before.

Looks cool, especially since we've been having issues with our primer of late.
Works like a dream and is very beneficial for us folks out in the sticks, but it's heavy as hell. Better have good footing when you go to pitch it in the pond or you and your PPE will be drying out for days.
Yep. We've used it maybe twice in ten years. We call it "The Jet." Works great. We've used it for transferring from one dump tank to another. Works well.
