TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- A scandal in the Tulsa Fire Department involving the falsification of emergency medical training has led to a shake-up within the department.
Mayor Kathy Taylor says Fire Marshal David Dayringer and Deputy Chief of Support Services Tim Cooper have retired.
Also Emergency Medical administrators Bobby Tollette and Rick Wright are being transferred back to firefighting and Chief of Training Mike Graves is being transferred to district chief.
The changes come after an investigation found some firefighters admitted not being able to truthfully account for all the continuing education they reported. The training is required for recertification for emergency medical technicians and paramedics.
The firefighters told state investigators they were instructed to use dates from a provided list even though they couldn't account for their class attendance.
