Tower Ladder Operator Training
OUr department has its first tower ladder on order, and I am looking for input on training programs for operators. Our department already uses the "quint" concept, but the tower ladder will not be used as a pumper. I am looking for training text, powerpoint presentations, and the number of hours needed. I would recommend incorporating storefront operations into your training program for both drivers and firefighters. This might not be a regularly used tactic, but can be used to great effect on strip shopping centers and other buildings with large frontal openings in which you need BIG water. My company did this twice in 2003 and it made a big difference. Take care and be safe.
