Hello! I have a question about some podcasts and books to read in preparation for an upcoming academy.
BACKSTORY: I recently got a job with a city FD that starts in about 6 weeks. I'm 36 with 10 years of experience in EMS as a transport unit in busy 911 systems. I have a good grip on EMS and bits and pieces of the operations for both FD's and LE. However, I have nil experience at being a FF, and I would really like to make a strong impression in my academy through hard work, a positive attitude, and diligence. I was assigned roughly 7 chapters out of the Fire Engineering's Handbook for FF I and II, but I'm looking to supplement that with a book or two and some podcasts to listen to while physically preparing.
QUESTION: Does anyone have suggestions for something I could dive into w/ little experience? Or should I just bury myself in the textbook and come up when I need air?
Thanks for reading and I appreciate any responses.
