TOLEDO, Ohio - Officials are investigating what caused a fire at a Toledo home that apparently killed the 27-year-old son of a city firefighter who was on duty at the time.

Fire Chief Mike Wolever says Curtis Johnson Jr. appeared to have died of smoke inhalation during the blaze early Saturday. He'd been alone in the home.

Wolever says Johnson's father was on duty but was not sent to the scene as part of the emergency response.

The fire chief says the blaze apparently started upstairs and spread to other parts of the house.
