Toddler Dead, Grandmother Critical After Oklahoma House Fire

LAWTON, Okla. - Officials say a toddler is dead from a house fire in Lawton and her grandmother is in critical condition.

The fire early Wednesday killed 3-year-old La'Mya Pewewardy and left her grandmother, 54-year-old Debra Pewewardy fighting for her life.

The Oklahoman reports that Lawton Fire Marshal Joe Cintron said the two were watching television before the fire broke out. The structure was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

La'Mya's mother was not home, but her boyfriend was there and escaped with only cuts, which he sustained climbing through a window.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.
