Three people were killed in an early morning fire in Luzerne County.

Flames broke out in a double-block home on Price Street in Kingston around 3 a.m. Monday.

According to the fire chief, two adults died at the scene and a third died at the hospital. Another adult and a child were hurt. Their names have not been released.

Neighbors described a chaotic scene of people on the roof and inside the building screaming for help and police officers trying to make a valiant rescue.

"When police showed up, probably 10 or 20 seconds after we got down here, they (went to) the neighbors on either side of the home and kicked the doors in, got them out right away and moved them to a safe location," said neighbor Liam Weed.

Firefighters managed to keep the fire from spreading to adjacent homes. The home where the fire started was destroyed.

A state police fire marshal will try to determine a cause.
