CHAPARRAL, N.M. - A toddler and two other people are dead following a fire inside a mobile home in southern New Mexico.
Volunteer firefighters arrived at the Chaparral home before midnight Wednesday. The three victims were found in a back bedroom of the trailer.
Authorities say bars on the windows and intense flames and smoke in the hallway prevented their escape and kept firefighters from rescuing them.
The victims are believed to have been a 20-year-old woman, a 17-year-old boy and a 14-month-old girl. Identifications are being withheld until the Office of the Medical Investigator can positively identify the bodies and relatives can be notified.
A man living on the opposite end of the trailer was able to escape without injuries.
Investigators have not determined the cause of the fire.

ya k-12 works great if you have one, Look on a map and see if you can even find Chaparral New Mexico, You want to talk about cash strapped Vollies they are lucky to have a hack saw. I'm sure they did their best with what they had. Maybe they will get the next one open in time.
we deal with trailers all the time with the usual fire load of a trailer and the 7 to 9 minutes it takes for a trailer to go fully involved it is truly hard to get to the scene before and casualties happen im sure these guys did as well as they could and the bars couldnt have helped either hopefully the families have the support they need and we all learn from this and continue to do the best we can
