Most all small town departments have been called out to a barn fire that is just packed with these. They are big, heavy and not real easy to put out. We have tried piercing nozzles, foam, water and just destroying them with our bare hands. Still none of this seems to work great. Does anyone have any tricks of the trade on putting round hay bails out efficiantly

We have these a lot in N.W Iowa. There really is no good way to put them out. If we only have  a few of them we will get a tractor or small skid loader and unroll them and put water on them as we go. We had a large metal building full of them this summer catch fire. We brought the bales outside with a tractor and forks, dug a very large hole in the filed with an excavator and buried them.
