THE 60-SECOND EMT-Rapid BLS/ALS Assessment, Diagnosis & Triage
I'm reading the book by that title now and was wondering if anyone else had...I saw it in our library at hq and I had to blow some dust off it. The edition i have is from 1996 and I did not see a newer one online, Anyway, despite some of the techniques/protocal obviously having changed, all in all I find it to be a really good book full of tips to help you determine what is wrong with your patient. Which to me is often the hardest part of our job.

Okay, nagging woman I will tell you! You just feel bad about jacking my thread Heather!
I'm about 2/3 through it see I'm always reading more than 1 book at at time so it takes me a while. So the premise is rapid assessment and teaches the "Golden Minute" which is the time you should be able to interview, assess, inspect, and determine your actions in the field. It's the equivalent of the "Golden Hour" for the ER doctor. It's full of mneumonics which I love cause I have a short memory. So far my only dislikes is that it is dated so some of the interventions are no longer protocol. The book teaches the golden minute curriculum for:
Syncope
Chest Pain
Cardiac Arrest
Abdominal Pain
HIV patients
Coma
Toxicology
Hazmat
Respiratory
Thermoregulatory disorders
Neurologic
Geriatric
Pediatrics
60-second case presentation to the ER

AND I ASSURE YOU WOMEN DO NOT FEEL GUILT !!!
SO YOUR THEORY IS NOT VALID...
and just because you called me a nagging women... I am not telling you how much I like that book and how much it helped me short-cut patient care to the important things beyond all the bs that can come from complicated scenes... and I will not tell you how much it helped me shorten and focus my patch to the hospital and transfer of information to other care providers... since I can be long-winded... but since I am not talking to you now, :-( I won't tell you all of those things and how much i think everyone should read the book... and can not tell you when you finish reading it to come back and tell us more...
