Texas Firefighters Begin Day Two of Recycling Plant Fire

TEMPLE, Texas — Nobody has been hurt in a fire at a recycling plant in Central Texas and crews monitored the blaze as it burned for a second day.

Temple Fire Department spokesman Thomas Pechal (PEK'-ul) says firefighters were on the scene Friday trying to keep the blaze from spreading.

The fire broke out Thursday night at Temple Iron and Metal Co. The company did not immediately respond to a message for comment Friday.

KWTX television reports utility officials cut electricity to the plant and nearby areas as the fire burned.

Temple is about 60 miles north of Austin.
