HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. - More than 40 people have been left homeless after an early morning apartment fire that injured two.

WTVF-TV reports fire crews responded to the Sumner Estates apartments in Hendersonville just after midnight Thursday.

Firefighters had to rescue one man from a burning apartment. He and another man, who was able to escape, were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center's burn unit and were expected to recover.

Hendersonville Fire Chief Jaime Steele said the blaze may have started in the upstairs apartment where the man was rescued. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
