Authorities say 47-year-old Timothy Skalski was driving a payloader in the downtown building when the ramp gave way around 5 p.m. Tuesday and he fell one floor to the street level.
Emergency crews had to shore up the collapsed area before Skalski could be pulled from the vehicle. The rescue took about 90 minutes.
Skalski was treated at a Buffalo hospital for non-life-threatening injuries to his neck, shoulder and head.
The 100-year-old building is part of a proposed hotel and residential complex.
The incident is being investigated by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration
