This month's radio show from FFN member (FETC) and radio host of free talk radio training "Tap the Box" discusses, training future officer's for command and control with less big fires. Previously brothers would get tapped in the "second half" of their career, but now we are seeing Lieutenants with 5 years of exp. in handling alot of medicals and very little fire ground experience.  We then discuss how a new product called TetraKO can extinguish more fire with your fire engine than just water alone. It is an interesting conversation about corn starch and fire dynamics!   Then lastly the Tap the Box guys discuss how can we get guaranteed startups and better performance from our small engines and equipment by using ETHANOL FREE gasoline.

Bill, is this the same concept as wet water? By breaking the water surface tention so that instead of bouncing off the wood and other combustibles, it soaks in easier and faster?
Jason, no it is not like wet water. It is corn starch. Never been seen before in the fire service.  If you can listen in, the owner explained what and how the starch reacts with fire. It actually releases CO2 (in the by-product) of the process of steam conversion.  The interesting thing is the product, when sprayed directly on the ceiling, will stick and not allow re-ignition or flash back. Check it out, if you are short on time, the TetraKO owner is on at about the 33 minute mark of the podcast.
