Hello everyone
I currently work on a procedure to remove the bunker from exposure to extreme heat.

I recognized three steps:
Immediate turn out gear and minimizing contact with the fireman
Wet the firefighter with a nozzle
The Both combination

I would like to do with you if you have your procedure or test that you have done. Certain states that about watering the firefighter could cause more burns. Are these words that have been validated.

Steve's from Quebec, so we'll try and assist with the 'translation,'

"I'm currently working on a procedure to remove bunker gear, from a firefighter, that has been exposed to extreme heat. I have recognized that there are three steps:

  • Immediate removal of gear, minimizing contact with the firefighter
  • Wet the firefighter and gear with a hoseline first
  • Do a combination of wetting down the firefighter and gear, while removing the gear

I would like to know if your department has any procedures or have done any tests. There are some specifics that indicate applying water could cause more burns.
