These luxury skyboxes at the Staples Center are not cheap. The price tag that comes along with these limits most folks from even thinking about paying for one. With that said, one would think that the individual involved would have paid for a babysitter. Making the decision to be a parent comes along with some responsibility. So, how does a 2-year old climb over a barricade and fall to their death? Ask the parents... they get to live this one for the rest of their lives.

The fall occurred Sunday as 2-year-old Lucas Anthony Tang was taking pictures with his family in a skybox with a glass safety barrier that varies in height but is at least several feet high, police Officer Julie Sohn said.
Ok so let me get this straight....the glass safety barrier is several feet high, but this boy manages to fall over?? how does this happen? This child should not of been able to get over that glass if what they are saying is right.....

If I was a betting man, I'd bet that one of the parents was holding the child as he sat on the top of the barrier. Then for some unknown reason, the child fell. In my opinion, the fault lies with the parents, not the Staples Center. That being said, we now live in the age of "it's not my fault", and the Staples Center does have deep pockets...

I read this too... This is why I posted the photos that show something much different than the description you quoted... Where the child went over the railing is where the security guard is standing. I don't see a several foot high glass barrier, do you?

One has to ask why someone would bring a baby to a basketball game... Maybe the child was so hyperactive that getting a sitter was totally out of the question... who knows. The point is moot now. I feel very sorry for the trauma the parents will endure for the rest of their lives.

Me too. As a Father myself, I often wonder when I see stories like these or respond to calls involving tragedies like this, how some parents can be so negligent. I realize that there's no handbook for parents, but at some point you'd expect common sense to take over.

Exactly Mike.....where in the good god hell is this "glass safety barrier"? i know u can see through glass, but i didn't know it was starting to become invisibel!

I hope all is well with the family and their in my prays. The barrier up top looks a lot shorter than the one down low. It could just be my eyes playing tricks and it seems like to me the barriers didn't do there job this night. This is one of those stories that will stick with the responding units for the rest of their career. I wonder will the parents stay together after this tragedy because I a lot of them blame the other for their child's death.

The only glass barrier I see is three floors below the security guard.....
